Jan 29, 2020. #3. I have the Tamron 70-200 G2. It’s a sharp lens (on the 24mp bodies I have owned, anyway) and generally well-behaved for less money than Nikon’s VRII or FL. Optically it is comparable to the VRII, and exhibits the same focus breathing. Some say it’s as sharp as the latest FL version from Nikon
Comparing the Nikon 24-70 f/2.8 VR with the Canon 24-70L f2.8 II: The Nikon lens has slightly sharper extreme corners wheras the Canon lens has slightly better center sharpness. Both lenses are truely excellent. Having VR is an advantage that comes with significant extra size, so the right choice depends on your preferences. So here is the Nikon 70-200mm f/4G VR @ 70mm: And the Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8G VR II @ 70mm: The Nikon 70-200mm f/4G looks weaker in the center, but take a look at the corners – it clearly resolves more details in comparison. Zoomed in to 105mm, we get the following results from the 70-200mm f/4G: And the Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8G VR II @ 105mm:

have Nikon D810 had exactly the same problem with brand new Nikon 70-200 VRII 2.8 lens was good first and the it started clunking, bought on line, complained to Nikon , took it in numerous times was serviced in Toronto a couple times and problem remains after 2 1/2 years - bottom line though is it takes excellent pictures and Nikon keeps

Attach a NIKKOR Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S lens to the camera and turn the camera on. Press the camera MENU button and select SETUP MENU > Firmware version to display the camera and lens firmware versions. Check the firmware version. Turn the camera off. Product Description. Name.

With the Nikon 300mm f/2.8G VR II, I was able to hand-hold the lens for longer periods of time and it was very apparent when I did some birding in local parks. Now in terms of size, the Nikon 200-400mm f/4.0G is about 25% longer than the 300mm f/2.8G, which does present a few problems. First of all, not many camera bags can fit the 200-400mm thWGmr.
